To produce 1 g of venom, bees need to sting at least 1 million (!) times. Typically, only 0.5 to 1.0 jil of venom can be collected per bee, with an average oft en stings per bee. Or in other words: you need 20 hives and a sting period of 2 hours to produce 1g of bee venom.
One of the biggest venom producers in the USA had produced about 3 kg of venom over 30 (!) years8.
